Renowned NYC drummer and composer Bobby Previte, who plays LPR’s Winter Jazzfest kickoff concert next Tuesday, recently made a trip out the Sixpoint Brewery in Red Hook to search for some unique percussion instruments. He found a lot of good sounds, but we particularly like the varying pitches that the kegs make.

Previte’s trip might seem a bit random, but there’s a reason he dropped by the brewery. Sixpoint will be honoring Winter Jazzfest’s 10th anniversary by debuting a new brew of Spontaneous Construction Ale at the festival. Here’s a little more backstory from the video:

In addition to Tuesday’s concert, LPR will also host a WFJ SummerStage/Charlie Parker Jazzfest showcase with Revive Big Band on Thursday, January 9 and WJF Marathon sets on Friday, January 10 and Saturday, January 11.

Watch the video below and come see Previte’s TERMINALS at LPR when they kick off Winter Jazzfest on Tuesday, January 7. He’ll be joined by John Medeski, Nels Cline, So Percussion and Helado Negro!
