A nice review of last night’s “Signal performs Philip Glass” concert in the New York Times.

The conductor Brad Lubman formed the new-music chamber orchestra Signal just over a year ago, and it is already considered one of the most vital groups of its kind. Its specialty is music by composers who were once called Minimalists but who have discouraged that label for the last couple of decades.

Philip Glass is a charter member of that club, and on Sunday evening, Signal devoted a concert at Le Poisson Rouge to his Symphony No. 3 (1995) and the Suite from “The Hours” (2003)…
