The How I Learned Series features writers, storytellers, comics, and other raconteurs holding forth on lessons learned, unlearned, relearned or in progress. The How I Learned Series happens once a month, and sometimes more than that, which basically means you will have the best night of your life on those nights, repeatedly.
This is a general admission event in The Gallery at LPR.
Diana Spechler
Diana Spechler is the author of the novels Who by Fire and Skinny. She has written for Esquire, GQ, The New York Times, The Paris Review Daily, The Wall Street Journal, Glimmer Train Stories, Slate, New York Magazine, CNN Living, and elsewhere. He has performed in Spain, France, and Israel, where he was one of the founding comedians of the Comedy Basement in Jerusalem, the country’s first English-language comedy club. He recently received the coveted Best Newcomer Award at the 2014 Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards and was widely acclaimed as one of the up and coming comedy stars at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. David Crabb
DAVID CRABB is a performer, writers, storyteller, and host of the Moth StorySLAM. He is the co-creator of the live storytelling series ASK ME and has told stories at RISK!, Stripped Stories, The Soundtrack Series and Story Collider. David is a member of NYC’s Axis Company Theatre where his solo show, Bad Kid was named a New York Times Critics’ Pick. He teaches storytelling at The PIT and Kevin Allison’s The Story Studio. He generally dislikes sorcerers, dragons, and anything having to do with “wizardry.” This is his fourth appearance on How I Learned. That’s how similar to Diana Spechler he is.
Kara Buller
KARA BULLER is a writer for Bust Magazine, and her biting comedy has snatched up prizes from Chicago to New York. She has performed in places as far west as Maui and as far sad as a Midwestern memorial service. She has been deemed “very smart, very funny” by David Letterman’s chief talent booker. Kara is a graduate of Chicago’s legendary Second City where she performed her one-woman show Cowboy Crushes, Prank Calls and the Biblette; which was “full of hilarious insights” according to the Chicago Reader. Kara is equipped with an attitude of gratitude and is raring to go.

LOUIS PEITZMAN is a senior editor at BuzzFeed, where he writes about entertainment and occasionally makes those quizzes that annoy you on Facebook. He has previously written for Gawker, TV.com, BlackBook Magazine, and the internet at large. He came here from L.A. He’s just visiting.
