The Book Report Reading

Once upon a time you were in third grade and you had to give book reports and it was awesome. The Book Report promises to deliver exactly what it promises: reports on books by the people who’ve read them. Join Leigh Stein and Sasha Fletcher and assorted literate guests for an evening that will remind you of 3rd grade in the best possible way.

Ben Fama

Ben Fama is the author of New Waves, Aquarius Rising, and the artist book Mall Witch. He is the co-editor of Wonder, a publisher of art books, glossies, and pamphlets. His work appears in The Brooklyn Rail, Action Yes, Jubilat, notnostrums, LIT, Poor Claudia, Denver Quarterly, Maggy, and on the Best American Poetry Blog. He lives in New York City.

LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs

LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs works with words, sound, and video. Born and raised in Harlem, LaTasha has been published in Jubilat, Fence, LA Review, Palabra and Black Renaissance Noir among others. Her performance work has been featured at The Kitchen, Exit Art, Recess Activities Inc, The Whitney and MoMa. As a curator and artistic director, she has staged events at El Museo del Barrio, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Dixon Place, BAM Café and next week, at The David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center. She is the recipient of several awards; of them include New York Foundation for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, The Laundromat Project, and Millay Colony. She along with Greg Tate, are the editors of yoYO/SO4 Magazine. Her poetry collection, TwERK, recently published by Belladonna*, is her first full length collection of poetry.

Kavita Das

After 15 years developing and leading innovative programs in the social change sector, Kavita Das now focuses on writing nonfiction and creative nonfiction and serving as a nonprofit consultant. Her work has been published in Quartz, The Aerogram, The Rumpus, Colorlines, Thought Catalog, DashAmerican, The Sun, and will be featured in an upcoming anthology by Telling Our Stories. Monica McClure

Monica McClure’s chapbooks, Mood Swing and Petocha/ Chiflada are forthcoming from Snacks Press Inc. and #wtfislongsdrugspress, respectively. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in the Los Angeles Review, The Lit Review, Lambda Literary Review’s Spotlight Series, The Awl, Spork Press and elsewhere. She curates the Atlas Reading Series and teaches in New York City.

Sasha Fletcher

Sasha Fletcher is the author of the novella WHEN ALL OUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED MARCHING BANDS WILL FILL THE STREETS AND WE WILL NOT HEAR THEM BECAUSE WE WILL BE UPSTAIRS IN THE CLOUDS [ml press 2010] and a couple of poetry chapbooks.
