Madison McFerrin is a born and bred Soul artist who combines the story telling once revered in the past with the sound of the 21st century. Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, she has spent her life cultivating her style through studying and playing. As the co-founder of the funk/soul group Cosmodrome, she spent her college years touring the Eastern US playing venues large and small, from legendary NYC club The Blue Note, to Bonaroo, opening up for Emily King and Hiatus Kaiyote, all of which helped land the attention of notable artists such as Chick Corea and Questlove of The Roots. She then joined the SpiritYouAll band led by her father, jazz vocalist Bobby McFerrin, as a background and featured vocalist from 2013-15 for his global tours. She has since sung with greats such as Aretha Franklin, George Clinton and the PFunk All-Stars, as well as for hip hop legends De La Soul backed by The Roots. With the hope of bringing old soul into the popular music of today, Madison has gone about curating her own individual sound while honoring the many influences that came before her. Using these elements, she independently released her debut EP, and first installment of her fully a cappella series entitled Finding Foundations December 2016.

Melanie Charles

“Melanie Charles takes us on a journey that embodies the soul of jazz: exploration.” —NPR

There are very few artists whose sound can capture the sentiments of a generation. The Brooklyn born and raised, Melanie Charles, is one of these artists. Over the past few decades, she has made a name for herself through dynamic engagements with jazz, soul, and R&B. Her bold genre-bending style has been embraced by a range of artists including Wynton Marsalis, SZA, Mach-Hommy, Gorillaz, and The Roots. In 2021, she appeared on NPR’s Tiny Desk and stunned with her eclectic style. Through it all, she has remained committed to making music that pushes listeners to consider new possibilities—both sonically and politically. “Make Jazz Trill  Again,” a project that she launched in 2016, demonstrates her allegiance to everyday people, especially the youth and is focused on taking jazz from the museum to the streets. “I love jazz, I really fell in love with it deeply. But I was interested in young people interacting with it,” Charles says. The album Y’all Don’t (Really) Care About Black Women is reflective of Charles’ tremendous versatility and imagination as an artist but of also her deep care for community.

Throughout his short time on earth Jonathan has been given opportunities to perform and record with Grammy award artists and producers such as Regina Bell, Tracy Pierce, Richard Smallwood, and many more. His opportunities have mostly come through his background work with gospel artist Rashad McPherson & DivinePURPOSE, his father-Stellar nominated, Ronald Hoard, and alma mater, Berklee College of Music. Moreover, his gift has allowed him to travel to Europe, Canada, and, most recently Puerto Rico. Most importantly, his skills as background member has cultivated his leadership skills as visionary of J. Hoard & The Greenhouse People, a band that formed to popularize a movement into soul pleasing, awakening music whom has now opened for artists such as Dwele. In conclusion, Jonathan Hoard is a background singer, songwriter, vocal arranger, and teacher who is crazy about music and head over heels for life.
