Drag superstar Sasha Velour’s sensational revue NightGowns (founded in 2015) has hosted some of the world’s greatest queer performers. In 2020 it was adapted into a critically-acclaimed DocuSeries. Now it is taking up residence at New York’s historic downtown music venue Le Poisson Rouge. Sasha Velour is a genderfluid drag queen, global theatre star, award-winning television producer and winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9. Velour has headlined performances in theatres across the world, bewitching audiences on five continents. In 2019, she debuted her first one-queen show, Smoke & Mirrors, to critical acclaim. Hailed as “a spellbinding tour de force” (Forbes), the show has pushed the boundaries of what drag can be, incorporating Velour’s signature innovative use of video projection Smoke & Mirrors has since toured 30 cities across three continents, with sold out performances at iconic theaters in LA, London, San Francisco, Chicago, Auckland, Toronto, and more. With a 36-city European tour of the show kicking off in February 2022, Smoke & Mirrors is the first theatrical drag spectacular to integrate a full lip sync narrative and tour the world at this scale.
Velour is also widely known as the director and host of NightGowns, a drag revue she began in 2015. Over the years, it became one of the most esteemed and oft-imitated drag shows in the world and was adapted into a docu-series now streaming on The Roku Channel. As the founder of her production company, House of Velour, she produces live theatre, television, film, charity events, merchandise, graphic design, photography, and more.
