Runnin’ on Empty with Yotam Tubul & Lisa Franklin
Runnin’ on Empty is a free monthly stand-up show with nothing to lose! The show features a mix of pros and up-and-comers, from people who last performed on Conan to people who last performed to three tumbleweeds. To be fair, those tumbleweeds hadn’t laughed that hard in years. Join us at the show critics are calling “Best comedy in the city, I am so proud” (Lisa’s Mom) and “Wow, this was actually good! Why is it free?” (Yotam’s Mom).
Hosts/soul-siblings Yotam Tubul and Lisa Franklin first met in a college stand-up group, where Yotam told Lisa “I think your joke is more cute than funny,” and she replied “You’re probably right.” Since then, they’ve been thick as thieves.
Phoebe Robinson is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor who has been named by Vulture, Essence, and Esquire Magazine as one of the top comedians to watch. Her first book of essays, You Can’t Touch My Hair, for Plume publishing, will be released in Fall 2016.
Giulia Rozzi is a comedian, actress and writer that was raised in Boston by two adorable Italian immigrants. Her very personal and honest humor has earned her the honor of being a TEDx speaker, a Moth GrandSLAM champion, one of BUST Magazine’s “10 Funny Ladies You Need To Be Watching Right Now” and one of The Huffington Post’s “18 Women You Should Be Following On Twitter.” She has been seen on TruTV’s How To Be A Grown Up, Vh1’s The Greatest, Chelsea Lately, Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening, The Jim Gaffigan Show, Lifetime TV, Playboy TV’s Foursome: Walk Of Shame, MTV, TLC, The Artie Lange Show, Italio MTV and co-stars/co-created the web series Seeing Other People with Brooke Van Poppelen. Her comedy album True Love is available on iTunes, Google Play and Spotify.
Louisa Kellogg is a staff writer for The Onion. She lives and occasionally performs in Chicago, and she is a friend to all living things.
Luke Conley is a Brooklyn-based comedian and exceedingly polite dinner guest who performs all around the city. He has contributed to The Onion and once drove James Adomian to a gig. James is a real sweetheart.
Rachel Kaly is a comedian based in New York. She is the founder of the ABSURD Comedy Collective, which seeks to provide safe spaces for marginalized performers. She performs at The Annoyance Theater in Brooklyn and tweets about her vajean.
Mark Valdez is a fresh-faced comedian based in New York. He has performed at the Brit Pack with Runnin’ on Empty, indie shows in seemingly vacated apartments, and the Brown University Comedy Conference. You can follow him on Twitter for his 140 character musings about being gay and single – but are really mostly about Hamilton.
