Fem Appeal has brought her love of science fiction, horror and pop culture to her burlesque numbers before the term ‘nerdlesque’ even existed. Aside from her extensive performance repertoire, Fem is also the producer behind Kitty Nights NYC, one of the longest running weekly burlesque shows in New York at seven years and counting, which has also spawned a west coast chapter in Vancouver run by Burgundy Brixx. Fem has been a member of The Merkinettes and EPIC WIN Burlesque, and has sometimes been called “The Lando Calrissian of Burlesque” and “The Andy Kaufman of Burlesque.”
Bazuka Joe makes up one-third of the award-winning Stage Door Johnnies from Chicago. He tours and headlines internationally, and has over 12 years experience choreographing and performing professionally in the theater, dance, and now burlesque arenas. For all our nerds out there, Bazuka has headlined at Gen-Con, All Con, and C2E2 amongst others. He’s the Godzilla of burlesque and he’s here to stomp all over your Tokyo! See Joe performing a different act onstage in the Nerdlesque Festival’s official pre-party on Thursday night, or learn from him first hand in his Movement & Musicality class offered through the fest in conjunction with the New York School of Burlesque.
Nasty Canasta is frequently hailed as a genius of the neo-burlesque scene, “burlesque queen” (The NY Times), 2nd Runner Up at the 2010 Miss Exotic World Pageant, and “Brooklyn’s greatest burlesque star” (The Brooklyn Paper). She is the producer of Naked Girls Reading NYC and was an original co-creator of Pinchbottom Burlesque. She is a regular performer with Wasabassco Burlesque, and teaches private and group burlesque classes. She is hosting the Thursday night pre-party and will be teaching Performance Theory through the Nerdlesque Festival, in conjunction with the New York School of Burlesque.
