John Scofield
Through his 54-year career, 3-time Grammy Award winner John Scofield has occasionally detoured from the traditions of straight-ahead jazz, exploring a blend of funk and jazz that has led to some of his most popular projects. In late autumn of 2026, Scofield looks back at many of his now classic fusion groove compositions with Electrospective. Not intending to replicate the earlier fan favorites, he plans instead to revisit them with the seasoned perspective of several decades; culling tunes from his Blue Matter, Uberjam, and AGoGo bands – each responsible for a few recordings – as well as new material in the same vein. Scofield looks forward to teaming up with a stellar band of colleagues, Electrospective will rely on interpretative input from Scofield alum and super funk drummer/producer Adam Deitch (Lettuce), multidimensional Larry Goldings (Scary Goldings, James Taylor) on keyboards, and legendary bassist Oteil Burbridge (Dead & CO., Tedeschi Trucks, Allman Brothers). With this repertoire so frequently (and loudly) requested by audience members, Scofield is glad to have a band that will truly do the music justice.
Oteil Burbridge
Two-time Grammy winning bassist Oteil Burbridge has been in the music business touring and recording for over three decades. His first step into the national spotlight came in 1991 when he became a founding member of the Aquarium Rescue Unit featuring Col. Bruce Hampton, a cult classic that has stood the test of time.
That led to his membership in the classic rock group The Allman Brothers Band. Since 1997, his work with the band has earned him two Grammy nominations for best rock instrumental, in 2003 and in 2004.
Following his 17-year stint in the Allman Brothers Band, Oteil spent ten years holding down the low end of Dead & Company, a band formed by the surviving members of the Grateful Dead (Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart) and John Mayer, along with keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. Dead & Company completed ten US tours, performing to over four million fans across 235 shows. Dead & Company headlined iconic stadiums across the country including Folsom Field, Oracle Park, Citi Field, Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium and broke Wrigley Field’s all-time concert attendance record. In between tours, the band hosted their annual all-inclusive Caribbean concert series in Mexico called “Playing in the Sand.” Dead & Company was one of the first bands to play the Sphere in Las Vegas, completing two residencies there in 2024 and 2025.
Over the years, Oteil has shared the stage with rock and blues legends such as Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Levon Helm, Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy, Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, Billy Gibbons, Chuck Leavell, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Johnny Winter, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow and Trey Anastasio. In 2012, Oteil received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his 17 year contribution to the Allman Brothers Band as the longest running bassist in the band’s history.
Larry Goldings
Larry Goldings is a Grammy-nominated pianist and composer. His organ trio with Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart has been recognized in the New York Times as “the best organ trio of the last decade.” Goldings’ musical inspirations draw from a lifetime of absorbing jazz, pop, funk, R&B, electronic and classical music. Goldings has been recording and touring with singer-songwriter James Taylor since 2001, and is the featured musician on Taylor’s One Man Band CD/DVD, the culmination of a two year world-wide tour with James and Larry in duet.
As a performer and recording artist, he is known for long-term collaborations that straddle the realms of jazz and pop with such artists as Jim Hall, Maceo Parker, John Scofield, Steve Gadd, Jack DeJohnette, Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, John Mayer, and others. In 2007, Scofield/Goldings/DeJohnette’s Trio Beyond -Saudades (ECM) was recognized with a Best Instrumental Jazz Album Grammy nomination for their searing live recording at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Goldings’ solo recording projects are eclectic, and often feature him as a multi-keyboardist. In addition to his 16 organ trio records with Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart, Larry has been the featured artist in Scary Goldings, where he reaches back to his funk-filled Maceo Parker days, with the help of Ryan Lerman and Jack Conte of Scary Pockets. Scary Goldings has just released their sixth album, The Holy Enchilada. Goldings’ viral videos with tap dancer Melinda Sullivan led to the recording Big Foot, an exploration of the rhythmic and melodic soundscape of tap dance, combined with elements of electronic music and jazz. Goldings has not forgotten his piano roots, and last year he released I Will – a live piano trio record with bassist Karl McComas-Reichl and drummer Christian Euman.
Goldings’ music graces the soundtracks of many film and television projects, including The Office and Hacks. He contributed to the jazzy fabric of Clint Eastwood‘s Space Cowboys and enhanced John Madden‘s Proof and Judd Apatow‘s Funny People with original compositions, as well as providing ghoulish organ music for “Lurch” to play in the animated film, The Addams Family. Goldings’ Nino Rota-inspired score to Jeff Garlin‘s Dealin’ With Idiots is the backdrop to this hilarious film about the zany parents of a Little League baseball team. Listeners of NPR’s This American Life can hear Goldings’ music underscoring many of its dramatic stories. Larry scored the Netflix series, Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker, infusing the drama with shades of ragtime and early jazz, in combination with modern, back-beat oriented cues, in which early jazz meets hip-hop.
Adam Deitch
While other kids were more interested in “Being Like Mike,” Adam Deitch was more interested in “Being Like Quincy.” Producer drummer Adam Deitch recalls, “It was around the age of 10 after I had been playing drums for 8 years, my mother told me my drumming skills along with my knowledge of melody and harmony would lead me to produce records for people”. Having guitars, pianos, basses, recording equipment, synthesizers, and two parents who wrote music and sang all the time didn’t hurt either.
Adam began composing around the age of 11 with his Dad’s Ensoniq ESQ1 keyboard–one of the 1st keyboard/sequencers making beats that ranged from hip-hop, pop, R&B, gospel, jazz and fusion. Pretty soon artists in the neighborhood came knocking. “The tapes I was making at home were passed around at school, and the best artists from the area started coming by the studio.” It was this early experience as a songwriter and a producer that has given Adam the wide spectrum of experience and influences that he brings to his work.
Being a drummer in so many different kinds of bands gave me an insight to how different kinds of music worked — from the instrumentation to the type of amps, strings, heads, mics, to lyrics. Adam Deitch’s career has crossed genres and he plays the role of both producer and drummer. Adam was inspired by hip-hop at an early age, inspired by Public Enemy and Eric B and Rakim. Adam has produced records for such luminaries as 50-Cent, Redman, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, Chali 2na and MF Doom. He has also done major session work on drums for artists including Justin Timberlake, Daniel Bedingfield, Anthony Hamilton, DJ Quik and Wyclef Jean and the Fugees. Adam has toured the world and recorded as a member of the Grammy Nominated John Scofield Band, Pretty Lights, the Average White Band, The Fugees, Wyclef Jean, Meshell Ndegeocello and his own Break Science and Lettuce.
Recent highlights include a Grammy nomination for Ledisi’s Turn Me Loose for which Adam produced and co-wrote two songs, co-writing and production for Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi’s Sony debut, production of two tracks on Matisyahu’s latest and a platinum single for Italian rap sensation Fabri Fibra.
