Miguel is back. Nearly three years after the release of his breakthrough album Kaleidoscope Dream the singer has returned with Wildheart, a love letter to his hometown of Los Angeles and a hip-hop and rock-inflected example of what California soul sounds like in 2015.
It’s not enough that you can stream the album a week before its release via NPR Music’s First Listen — we also want fans to experience the music too. Before heading out on tour this summer, Miguel will grace the stage here at (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York City on June 30 for a special First Listen Live performance. He’ll perform songs from Wildheart, as well hits from his catalog. With this upcoming event, Grammy Award winner Miguel joins the ranks of a diverse list of First Listen Live performers including Arcade Fire, ScHoolboy Q, Iggy and The Stooges and Alabama Shakes.
Tickets to this free event will be distributed via social media starting on Friday, June 26 at noon ET. Be sure to follow @NPRandB, @nprmusic and @miguel for updates and a link to RSVP. And, if you’re not in NYC, or simply can’t attend, you can still watch Miguel do what he does best via live stream on June 30 at 9 p.m. ET here.
