On March 3rd, Broadway for Self Help Africa will bring together some of Broadway’s biggest stars for a night of song and celebration benefiting Self Help Africa Inc.
 
The concert will feature Matt Doyle (Book of Mormon, War Horse), Lesli Margarita (Matilda), Maia Wilson (Book of Mormon, Frozen), Katie Rose Clarke (Wicked), Michael James Scott (Aladdin, Book of Mormon), Natalie Weiss (Everyday Rapture) Joey Taranto (Kinky Boots), Amber Iman (Soul Doctor), Brandon Victor Dixon (Motown) and John Eric Parker (Book of Mormon) and more.
 
Broadway for Self Help Africa, produced by Andy Jones, will feature musical direction by Will Van Dyke (Kinky Boots, Rent, Adams Family, Wicked).
 
All proceeds from the benefit will go directly to Self Help Africa, a non-profit with a pro-profit approach to rural Africa. Through nurturing entrepreneurship and providing economic opportunities, Self Help Africa helps to lift some of the poorest communities out of poverty. Over 30 years, the organization has provided nearly 2 million people with the opportunity to make a sustainable income through their own initiatives: A help up, not a hand-out.

TABLE SEATING POLICY
Table seating for all seated shows is reserved exclusively for ticket holders who purchase “Table Seating” tickets. By purchasing a “Table Seating” ticket you agree to also purchase a minimum of two food and/or beverage items per person. Table seating is first come, first seated. Please arrive early for the best choice of available seats. Seating begins when doors open. Tables are communal so you may be seated with other patrons. We do not take table reservations.
 
A standing room area is available by the bar for all guests who purchase “Standing Room” tickets. Food and beverage can be purchased at the bar but there is no minimum purchase required in this area.
 
All tickets sales are final. No refund or credits.

Self Help Africa has been working in Africa for close to thirty years. Established in the immediate aftermath of the Ethiopian famine, we have been striving ever since to tackle the root causes of hunger and famine across the continent.

Will Van Dyke (music director)

Will Van Dyke is a New York based composer/lyricist and music director. Will is the composer of PAGES (CAP 21), WINNIE THE POOH, KIDS! (Disney), THE GIRLS I’VE LIKE LIKED (Ars Nova). His songs have been performed at venues all over the country from Joe’s Pub to Lincoln Center. Upcoming works include MAGNIFICENT CLIMB (with Rick Elice), WRITING KEVIN TAYLOR and THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO STEVIE B (with Josh Halloway).
 
As a Music Director Will currently works on KINKY BOOTS (Associate Music Director). Other credits include the Off-Broadway Revival of RENT (Music Director), THE ADDAMS FAMILY (Keyboards), Kathleen Marshall’s revival of GREASE (Associate Music Director), and the 1st National Touring Company of WICKED (Keyboards). Will also works with many New York City based artists including Annaleigh Ashford, Matt Doyle and Jackie Hoffman.

Lesli Margherita won the 2009 Laurence Olivier Award for her performance as Inez in ZORRO THE MUSICAL on London’s West End. in 2011 her performance as Lilli/Kate in the Reprise! production of KISS ME KATE earned her an Ovation Award for Best Actress.

Lesli can be seen nightly on Broadway as Mrs. Wormwood in MATILDA THE MUSICAL, currently playing at The Shubert Theatre.

Born and raised in California, Lesli trained at UCLA and was soon after chosen to star in MGM’s television series “Fame LA” directed by Kenny Ortega. She has gone on to star and recur on numerous television shows and pilots including “Major Crimes”, “The Suite Life On Deck”, “Charmed”, “NYPD Blue”, “The District”, “JAG”, and “On The Lot”, produced by Steven Spielberg.

Film credits include Joel Schumacher’s ‘The Number 23’, the Sam Raimi produced ‘Boogeyman 2’, and the upcoming movie musical ‘Lucky Stiff’. Lesli’s voice can also be heard on several animated films and tv shows including Disney’s ‘Cinderella 3’ and Nickelodeon’s “Sponge Bob Squarepants”.

Earlier this year Lesli starred alongside Stephen Spinella, Jonathan Cake & Graham Hamilton in THE GRONHOLM METHOD at The Falcon (Ovation nom. – Best Ensemble) and as Aldonza in MTW’s MAN OF LA MANCHA opposite Davis Gaines (Ovation nom. LADCC nom – Best Actress). Other credits include Julie in SHOWBOAT (Goodspeed Opera), Audrey in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (La Mirada), Lady of the Lake in SPAMALOT opposite Gary Beach (Sacramento Music Circus), Ilona in SHE LOVES ME (CLOSBC), the West Coast Premiere of Michael John LaChiusa’s SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE (Blank Theatre), Rated RSO (Boston Court), and Gloria in Jason Alexander’s DAMN YANKEES (Reprise) .

Brandon Victor Dixon

Tony Award Nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, is currently starring in Motown The Musical on Broadway. This production about the birth of Motown Records is being led by the legendary creator of Motown himself, Berry Gordy, the Chairmen and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, Doug Morris, and Tony Award-winning Broadway Producer, Kevin McCollum.
 
A Presidential Scholar Semi-finalist and scholarship winner at the British Academy of Dramatic Acting in Oxford, Brandon is a graduate of Columbia University and a recipient of the University’s I.A.L Diamond Award for Achievement in the Arts which is an honor he shares with Tony Kushner (Angels in America), Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, or Change, and Katori Hall (Mountaintop).
 
Since his professional debut, originating the role of Adult Simba in The Lion King National Tour (Cheetah), Brandon has displayed his diverse abilities in a number of roles. Notably, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Harpo in Broadway’s The Color Purple, and most recently, he was nominated for Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and AUDELCO awards for his outstanding portrayal of Haywood Patterson in Kander and Ebb’s The Scottsboro Boys.
 
In the past two years, Brandon has spent his time producing new pieces such as Indomitable: James Brown (The Music, the Man) a concert piece on the life of James Brown developed in conjuction with Patricia McGregor (Hurt Village) and Burnt Sugar: The Arkestra Chamber, and performing in concerts and benefits with fellow artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Nathan Lane, Wynton Marsalis, Chita Rivera, Liza Minnelli, Matthew Broderick, David Hyde Pierce, Tony winner Levi Kries, Three-time Tony nominee Kelli O’hara, The Voice’s Frenchie Davis, and American Idol’s Ace Young.

Natalie Weiss

Natalie recently completed a 2 1/2 year run performing multiple ensemble roles on the Les Misérables 25th anniversary tour. In 2010, she made her Broadway debut understudying the Menonettes in Everyday Rapture, starring Sherie Rene Scott. She also performed in the ensemble and understudied Elphaba in the 2nd national tour of Wicked. Natalie was an American Idol season 4 semi-finalist, has performed the National Anthem at Cowboys & Shea Stadiums, but is most well known for her Youtube videos. She has gained an international following from her performance videos & popular web series, “Breaking Down The Riffs”, which have collectively reached over 3 million views. Natalie released her self-titled debut CD in early 2011 and has been giving sold out solo concerts and master classes across the country.
