Tulipa Ruiz, Duda Beat, Filipe Catto

Tulipa Ruiz is a Latin Grammy award–winning singer-songwriter who has been called one of the great highlights of a new generation of Brazilian singers. Some of Ruiz’s accolades include Apple Music’s best pop-rock album and number 4 on Rolling Stone’s best Latin Albums of the year. Born in Santos (Sao Paulo / Brazil) and raised in São Lourenço (Minas Gerais / Brazil), her award-winning albums, were produced by her brother and partner Gustavo Ruiz, an acclaimed musician and producer. Among many distinctions, Tulipa’s first album, Efêmera (2010), was considered album and song of year by Rolling Stone Brazil, Tudo Tanto (2012) was selected album of the year by Canal Multishow, and Dancê (2015) won the Latin Grammy for Best Brazilian Pop Album. Her most recent album, the acoustic TU (2018), which was co-produced by Gustavo Ruiz and percussionist Stephane San Juan, was recorded in New York and features singer Adan Jodorowsky (son of the celebrated Alejandro) and percussionist Mauro Refosco (Forro in the Dark, Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Byrne) as some of the guest musicians.

Creamy synthesizers, vibrant bass, passionate beats and a lot of “sofrência” (Brazilian slang for heartbreaking songs): all these ingredients are wrapped up in “Sinto Muito”, the debut album by singer-songwriter Duda Beat. Born in Recife and settled in Rio de Janeiro, she never turned her back to the Northeastern groove and accent, but added to them her strong timbre and passion for electronic rhythms. The result is a mix of musical genres like Tecnobrega, Pop, Axé and Dub. Her hit song “Bixinho” has over 3 million streams on Spotify and charted in the top 5 of Brazilian TOP 50 viral playlist in the same streaming platform.

Filipe Catto is one of the greatest new voices coming out of Brazil nowadays. Catto is a diva, a stage artist. Something between Freddie Mercury and Maria Bethânia, Bolero and High Fashion Glam Rock. Since the begging of his career, Catto turned himself into crafting his live perfomances as the basis of his artistry. “I record music as an excuse to built a show. Onstage is where I feel like a true artist, connecting with the music and the audience on real time. That’s my thing.” The band is made up Filipe Catto on lead vocals, Felipe Puperi (guitars, keyboards and samples) and Jojo (guitar and synths), who all weave hrough the collage of sound textures, electronic, indie pop and gypsy influences combined with Brazilian music and rock n’ roll.
