Chicago born, Amsterdam-based improv theater Boom Chicago is the most influential comedy institution you’ve never heard of—the unlikely launchpad for comedy legends Jordan Peele, Seth Meyers, creators/stars of Ted Lasso, Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, and more. Hosted by Seth Meyers (Late Night), with appearances by Boom all-stars Nicole Parker, Amber Ruffin, Holly Walker, Tarik Davis (Freestyle Love Supreme), and special guests, “A (Ridiculous) Evening with Boom Chicago” celebrates the publication of Boom Chicago Presents the 30 Most Important Years in Dutch History (a signed copy of which is included with tickets to the event) by Boom founders Andrew Moskos, Pep Rosenfeld, Saskia Maas, and coauthor Matt Diehl.

Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers is an Emmy Award-winning writer, New York Times bestselling author, and host of NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

Meyers hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2014 and was Emmy nominated in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. In 2018 he hosted the Golden Globe Awards, which was Emmy nominated for Outstanding Variety Special.

In 2019, he released his debut standup special, “Lobby Baby,” on Netflix, which was Emmy nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. In 2021, he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy, Drama or Variety Series for his weekly “Late Night” YouTube series, “Corrections,” which debuted in the same year.

“Late Night” won back-to-back Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Talk Show in 2020-21. In addition, Meyers was named one of the 2014 TIME 100, Time magazine’s 100 most influential people.

Meyers began his TV career with “Saturday Night Live” in 2001, where he was a cast member for 13 seasons. He served as head writer for nine seasons and “Weekend Update” anchor for eight. In 2011, Meyers won the Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for host Justin Timberlake’s musical monologue. In all, Meyers has garnered 27 Emmy nominations for his work in television.

In addition to his onscreen acclaim, Meyers is a New York Times bestselling author with the publication of his first picture book, “I’m Not Scared, You’re Scared” in March 2022.

Meyers currently serves as an executive producer of “The Amber Ruffin Show” on Peacock, and as co-creator and executive producer alongside Fred Armisen and Bill Hader of IFC’s Emmy-nominated docu-parody series “Documentary Now!” He executive produced and lent his voice to Hulu’s animated superhero show “The Awesomes” and executive produced “A.P. Bio” for NBC and Peacock. Meyers and “Late Night” showrunner Mike Shoemaker established their production company, Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, in 2017.

Meyers hosted the 2010 and 2011 ESPY Awards on ESPN and headlined the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Assn. dinner to rave reviews.

Nicole Parker

Amber Ruffin

Amber Ruffin is a writer, executive producer, and host of the WGA Award nominated series The Amber Ruffin Show on Peacock. She was recently nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Host in a Reality/Reality Competition, Game Show or Variety (Series or Special). She is an Emmy and WGA Award nominee writer and performer for NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and was the first African American female to write for a late-night network talk show in the U.S. She wrote and performed on Comedy Central’s “Detroiters” and was a regular narrator on the cabler’s “Drunk History.”

Ruffin was previously a performer at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, the iO Theater and the Second City in Chicago. In addition, she was a writer/performer for the 2018 and 2019 Golden Globe Awards and has written for the series “A Black Lady Sketch Show.” Ruffin is a New York Times bestselling author, along with her sister Lacey Lamar, of “You’ll Never Believe What Happened to Lacey: Crazy Stories of Racism,” published by Gran Central Publishing. She is currently co-writing the Broadway musical “Some Like it Hot”, which will begin performances in 2022. Last year, Ruffin was named to the 2021 TIME100 Next List, TIME’s list of the next 100 most influential people in the world.

Holly Walker

Holly Walker is an American comedian known for her role as a correspondent and staff writer on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.

Tarik Davis

Tarik Davis is an actor/writer/avid pop culture consumer based in New York City with a 20 year history history of acting, performing improv and writing comedy. He strives to cross-pollinate performance styles and audiences in all his work. Currently you can see Tarik on The Amber Ruffin Show (two seasons available on Peacock TV) as Amber’s announcer, side kick and real life friend! Past experience includes performing for The Upright Citizens Brigade in NY, Boom Chicago in Amsterdam and The Second City in Chicago. Tarik has appeared in multiple commercials and television shows such as Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ray Donovan, Friends From College, Last Week Tonight: with John Oliver and more.

Tarik is a member of the longest running improv team at The PIT, The Baldwins and also performs with Baby Wants Candy and Shamilton at UCB Hells Kitchen. Tarik is a founding member of the monthly improv show Comedy People’s Time that features writers and performers from shows Late Night with Seth Meyers and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Recently Tarik performed in the critically acclaimed Freestyle Love Supreme at the Kennedy Center and at The Booth Theater, in the Broadway run in NYC (2021). In 2018 he performed at The Brooklyn Museum in David Levine’s Some of the People All of the Time, which was selected as the New York Times Best Art of 2018.

Tarik also teaches improv and theater to both children & adults.
