ACTORS

ACTORS began by releasing a string of popular singles, starting with “Post Traumatic Love” in 2012 and building a dedicated fanbase while eschewing a debut album release for the band’s first six years of existence. In 2018, the Jason Corbett-led foursome signed with Toronto-based Artoffact Records and released its long-awaited debut, It Will Come to You, quickly becoming one of the marquee acts on the label and following with their sophomore release ‘Acts of Worship‘ in 2021. In Late 2020, ACTORS announced a new single, “Love U More,” with Juno-Award winning director Peter Ricq contributing his talents to the accompanying video.

Songs like “L’appel du Vide,” “Slaves,” “Face Meets Glass,” and “Bury Me” are bangers that glisten via Corbett’s production job: infectious beats propelled by the warm layers of synth, bass, and drums contributed by the rest of the band. Corbett writes, produces, mixes, and masters all ACTORS music at his own Vancouver studio, Jacknife Sound and names David Bowie as a fundamental influence – Bowie’s sense of confidence and creativity are in full effect on It Will Come to You. Much more than a retro act, this is music that stands all on its own, full of life and complete with unforgettable hooks. Perhaps best described as a “post-post-punk” band, ACTORS belongs in the mix alongside bands like The Soft Moon and Cold Cave.

ACTORS have spent the last several years touring the USA, Canada, and Europe, while hitting many of the best-loved festivals, including AmphifestWave-Gotik-TreffenCold WavesSubstanceDeath DiscoVerboden and many more.

Confines

The seed for CONFINES started with the union between techno and industrial, fog-filled noir nights in NYC clubs and the desire to expand away from the worlds of metal, punk, and hardcore while still applying that aesthetic and ethic. CONFINES explores the dimly-lit corners of the dancefloor with fist-clenching beats, gut-rumbling bass kicks and haunting vocals that coalesce into its own unique flavor.

While names like Einstürzende Neubauten and SWANS come to mind when discussing the basis for CONFINES– whether field recordings, sounds from the worksite, metal on metal or other industrialisms– the project thrives on diversity. With a basis in Latin music from the golden era ruled by Fania, CONFINES also takes influence from the NYC’s crucial Paradise Garage scene, the immortal Larry Levan and others. It’s this baseline understanding that CONFINES applies to That Total Age-era Nitzer Ebb, early Ministry and even later influences like Silent Servant and Ancient Methods, the result being an approach that is equally crushing on the dancefloor or on your headphones.

Black Asteroid

Bryan Black aka Black Asteroid started his music career as a sound designer and keyboard tech for Prince at Paisley Park Studios in his hometown of Minneapolis. While working for Prince, Black proceeded to create his own music- under the name Haloblack and then Motor for such labels such as Mute and Kompakt. These records caught the ear of Martin Gore from Depeche Mode. Soon after, Black was on tour with Depeche Mode and recording songs with Martin Gore. Together Black and Gore wrote a top 40 single “Man Made Machine”. In 2011 the debut Black Asteroid single, “Engine 1” introduced Black Asteroid to the world- a unique industrial techno sound that quickly took off, propelling Black to play at clubs such as Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, Khidi In Tibilisi, Fabric and Fold in London and countless major festivals, including being a face of Amsterdam Dance Event. The focus was in favor of song structures and vocals in a techno template. After a string of critically acclaimed EPs on CLR and Electric Deluxe, the debut album “Thrust” was released in 2017 with many cross over singles, featuring vocals from Zola Jesus, Cold Cave and Michele Lamy. The fashion designer Rick Owens picked up on what was happening, and used Black’s music for his runway shows in Paris. The two quickly became friends and collaborators. In addition to working in the fashion world, BLACK ASTEROID has released a collection of sunglasses with Valley Eyewear and soundtracked a collection for Raf Simons.
