UPCOMING PERFORMANCE September 23

“What Ms. Supové is really exploding is the piano recital as we have known it, a mission  more radical and arguably more needed.” Anthony Tommasini, NY Times

In May, 2012, Kathleen Supové received the John Cage Award from ASCAP for “the  artistry and passion with which she performs, commissions, records, and champions the  music of our time.”

Yamaha Artist Kathleen Supové has premiered, promoted, and recorded works by about  200 composers—-a Who’s Who of today’s creators, both established and emerging. She  annually presents a series of solo concerts entitled THE EXPLODING PIANO. She  has performed with Yamaha Disklaviers, video, poets, laptop orchestras, robots, and  XReality. To date, Ms. Supové has 5 solo albums, here in chonological order: Figure 88,  Infusion, The Exploding PIano, The Debussy Effect, and Eye To Ivory.

Recent projects include a collection of works based on Migration; Guy & Doll, a piano electronics duo with Guy Barash; Anti-Depressant, a violin-piano duo with Jennifer  Choi; Shocking Red, a song cycle collaboration with Michelle Shocked, based on  paintings of Mark Kostabi, which was performed in May, 2023. Spring 2026 includes a  tour of the performance art works “The Female Gaze”; and the installation works “Deep  Adaptation” and “Taking Liberties”, both of which will premiere in Portland, OR. A  large-scale solo album dealing with the subject of Migration is next on her solo recording  agenda.

As a composer, Ms. Supové has been commissioned by Bargemusic, Ladies First, The  Illustrated Pianist project, Kyo Shin An Arts, the Brooklyn Arts Council, and the New  York State Council on the Arts. In November, 2023, she presented her own 3-D graphic
