Time will often set the world on fire, but what remains always develops and grows stronger than before. Such was the case with Philadelphia’s GENCAB, whose previous full length, “II transMuter” (released in 2008), was well received by the EBM community. During that period, David Dutton joined industrial pop outfit Aesthetic Perfection as a live member and toured extensively around the world before taking a hiatus from electronic music to focus on the 90s alt rock inspired band Crown of Pity. 12 years later however, GENCAB has become reborn.

Self produced during the pandemic of 2020 in a 300 year old mill, the brand-new album, THOUGHTS BEYOND WORDS, is the full culmination of throwing yourself into your work. Being alone in the woods allowed for the creative process to be louder and unhinged. Sounds pumping through slashed amplifiers, and screaming without distraction had given birth to an album that is as much catchy as it is chaotic. The collection of songs range from industrial, to synthpop, IDM and darkwave and discuss topics such as ego death, obsession, addiction, global warming, and sacrifice as progress.

With vocals and lyrics now at the forefront and the production more dense than it has ever been, GENCAB promises there will be something for everyone and that time will not necessarily ravage everything that it touches.
