Carvens Lissaint is a Haitian American award winning performance artist. Raised in Upper West Side Harlem, New York but resides in Washington Heights, he established himself as a spoken word artist in 2006 and went on to win multiple poetry slams across the country. He is currently the 2011 Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam Champion Slam champion. He also has just been named one of the Top 30 Black Performance poets by TheRoot.com.
 
He was the 2007 Grand Slam Champion of the highly acclaimed New York Knicks Poetry Slam. A member of the 2008 Newark, NJ slam team. 2009 Slam Global Grand Slam Champion, 2009 Robert Redford Speak Green Champion. On the 2009 Urban Word NYC Slam Team, Coach of the 2010 New York University Collegiate team, Co-Coach of the winning 2010 Urban Word NYC team at the Brave New Voices International Poetry Slam (Seen on Stan Lathan and Russell Simmons HBO Brave New Voices documentary) and has performed in venues across the United States including The Green Build Council in Arizona and the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
 
He made his transition into musical theater in 2007 apart of the Hip Hopera Theater troupe, working with Edward A. Reynolds West Side High School in collaboration with the Metropolitan Theater Opera Guild, he also debuted his one-man show entitled “Walk” (directed and co-developed by Queen God-Is, choreographed by Nicco Anann) at Dance Theater Workshop and off Broadway at the 2009 Hip Hop Theater Festival where he was noticed for his high energy and crowd-capturing performance. He has a collection of poetry under Penmanship Books Publishing company, “From: Heart To: Page, The Inspiration”. Carvens lives, eats, and breathes art hoping to share his light and become a better being of the Universe. He currently attends the American Academy For Dramatic Arts.
