Adeline Hotel Adeline Hotel

One pleasure of following Dan Knishkowy’s Adeline Hotel is the way each album suggests something new: a record of folk songs (Solid Love) led to solo guitar explorations (Good Timing), led to a suite of piano-led chamber music (The Cherries Are Speaking). Hot Fruit, the latest, follows that trajectory, featuring experimental jazz trio Scree (Ryan El-Solh, Carmen Rothwell, Jason Burger), and pianist Winston Cook-Wilson (Office Culture). Though Hot Fruit may be Adeline Hotel’s most lushly orchestrated album, it is also the best showcase yet of Knishkowy’s delicacy and subtle expressiveness as an acoustic guitarist.
