On October 14, Luke Temple will celebrate his new solo LP Good Mood Fool with a special album release show at LPR. He’s not waiting until then to share some sweet new sounds, though. Temple and his Here We Go Magic bandmate Eliot Krimsky have given fans an early treat in the form of this splendid cover of Curtis Mayfield’s “Suffer”.

The song, which was originally released on Mayfield’s 1974 album Sweet Exorcist, has been a part of Temple’s recent live sets. His label Secretly Canadian describes the track as an “appropriate preview” of Good Mood Fool, an album that “shows Temple at his most minimalistic utilizing only his voice, a drum machine, a bass guitar, and a Juno-1 synth.”

Temple had this to say about covering Mayfield: “It’s nice to remind – and in some cases introduce – an amazing song to people. Curtis makes your heart sing even if it’s a song about regret.”

We also highly recommend the funky grooves of “Katie,” the first single from Good Mood Fool:
