The Book Report Reading

Once upon a time you were in third grade and you had to give book reports and it was awesome. The Book Report promises to deliver exactly what it promises: reports on books by the people who’ve read them. Join Leigh Stein and Sasha Fletcher and assorted literate guests for an evening that will remind you of 3rd grade in the best possible way.

Gabrielle Moss

Gabrielle Moss’ work has appeared in Jezebel, GQ, the New York Daily News, Nerve, Bitch, and a bunch of other places. She’s technically been barred from entering the Union Square Barnes and Noble since 2002, but she’d like to see them try to enforce it.

Gili Malinsky

Gili Malinsky is a writer in NYC covering folk and DJs and currently Chromeo, which she is so psyched about (whoa). When book reporting, she veers toward the rock memoir as, let’s be honest, rockers have the deepest of knowledge to bestow on the lesser population that is us, the lesser population. Just kidding. They do say ridiculous things, though, those rockers. She’s written for the New York Times and most recently the Village Voice and Refinery29.

Hilary Leichter

Hilary Leichter’s work has recently appeared in n+1, Tin House, the Kenyon Review, VICE, The Barnes & Noble Review, and Two Serious Ladies. She is a recipient of a 2013 fellowship from the Edward F. Albee Foundation, and is currently working on a novel about an auction house.

hosts Leigh Stein

Leigh Stein is the author of four chapbooks of poetry and one novel, The Fallback Plan, newly released from Melville House. You can listen to an excerpt of The Fallback Plan here.

Sasha Fletcher

Sasha Fletcher is the author of the novella WHEN ALL OUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED MARCHING BANDS WILL FILL THE STREETS AND WE WILL NOT HEAR THEM BECAUSE WE WILL BE UPSTAIRS IN THE CLOUDS [ml press 2010] and a couple of poetry chapbooks.
