Songhoy Blues

Songhoy Blues made their extraordinary debut with last year’s acclaimed “MUSIC IN EXILE” earning a place in a long list of “Best Albums of 2015” lists including NME, MOJO, Q and Rolling Stone who praised;

“To find the heaviesthitting bluesrock of the year, take a sharp left at the Mississippi Delta until you’re in the deserts of Mali…Their debut album, produced by MarcAntoine Moreau and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, is the blazing solution to a year without a new Black Keys or Jack White album, full of lyrical solos, entrancing rhythms and melancholy lyrics”

Known worldwide as an inventive and invigorating live act, Songhoy Blues, have already found support amongst fellow musicians, having been invited by Julian Casablancas, Alabama Shakes and Damon Albarn respectively to open up shows, the band spent last summer performing at every major European festival on offer including a coveted slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival, plus appearances at Roskilde in Denmark, Lattitude Festival in the UK and Bonnaroo over this side of the Atlantic.

Young Paris

Young Paris official site | Young Paris on Facebook | Young Paris on Twitter | Young Paris on Bandcamp

YOUNG PARIS, aka Milandou Badila, is parading into the industry like a breath of fresh air. He’s been getting a lot of coverage for his unique blend of formulated melodies that vacillate between Hip-Hop, Trap, and African drumbeats.

Young Paris totes an origin story that blends cultures from three corners of the world. Born to Congolese parents, his father founded the National Ballet of Congo. This unity played an important role in Congo’s independence in the 1960’s and brought peace to many villages and united them in dance. His mother, a respected play writer and dancer joined his father’s company in Paris after touring with world famous ‘Rose Marie Guiraud’.
They later had ten children – one of whom would borrow his stage moniker from the French capital. After performing in a dance group with his siblings in the Congo, and his early upbringings in France, his family settled back in New York where his foundation has since been cemented.

YP and his siblings pay tribute to their heritage by donning traditional dress and body-paint, updated for modern impact. They grew up with a very strong traditional outlook on culture, be it the way they eat, perform, and dance, they represent themselves as modern day, unapologetic Africans.

Now taking on the task of fusing his palette to create Afro-centric art, the 27-year-old fuses the pulsing sounds of “AfroBeats” to bring his own brand of self-love to the world stage. Since crafting his sound with his 2014 project Rap | Electronic, Young Paris was then selected to perform at Arcade Fire’s KANPE KANAVAL, as well as the Parisian leg of the AFROPUNK Festival, which helped open many doors for him.

He is now an Artistic Director, Music Producer and Song Writer who has worked with Grammy award winning producers and gained the attention of some of the top Fashion brands in the World.

Young Paris has recently been featured in Billboard, The Fader, REVOLT, BET, Vice, XXL Mag, Pigeons & Planes, in addition to his impact on fashion in VOGUE, WWD, Harpers Bazaar, Essence & VMAN. Paris also recently attended the CFDA Fashion Fund Awards as a special guest of Rio Uribe of Gypsy Sport who won the past year and got his nod of approval after officially meeting Anna Wintour at the Red Carpet. In December, he dropped his acclaimed full-length Album, “African Vogue” and recently released an official remix for “Best of Me”, featuring Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage, and “One Time” featuring Reekado Banks Young Paris’ latest accomplishment finds him as a signee to the Jay-Z’s entertainment brand, Roc Nation. This move solidifies his mission to bring his international vibes to the mainstream. Tying in his roots with the times, Young Paris is ready to introduce his wave of Afrobeats and unique style in into pop culture.
