*This is a general admission event at Secret Project Robot: 1186 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11221*

The night before the summer solstice, Midsummer Night’s Eve, has been celebrated by humans since neolithic times, and this year YOU TOO may join in the revelry, guided by dragonsolsticesorcerors Haribo, Elisa, Ziemba, and Jennifer Vanilla’s LARP Castle.

It is a night associated with both fire and water, the shortest night of the year and the most glorious sunrise. Traditional ways to enjoy this very important holiday include dancing, singing, having sex, feasting, bonfires, skinny-dipping, and staying up til sunrise to ensure good health for the following year. This event will include a number of activities from the aforementioned list.

Come to Secret Project Robot promptly at 8pm on June 20th, and enjoy that your admission includes materials for creating your very own wand [or ceremonial torch], and fragrance mist [with the assistance of Ziemba] for inhabiting this solstice soundscape. Sample sweet treats by Bad Taste while you behold a series of alluring, inviting, consuming performances.

HARIBO

HARIBO on YouTube

HARIBO is the performance supergroup of Raul De Nieves, Jessie Stead and Nathan Whipple . A master blend of punk installation, live show and original music, HARIBO has presented their cross-genre pop-operettas to sold out crowds in New York and internationally. Recent engagements include Performa 11, MoMA PS1, Fitzroy Gallery, Real Fine Arts, Cage, Santos Party House, Styx Gallery and Akershus Kunstsenter. HARIBO have appeared in numerous motion-pictures and will soon release their debut studio LP and several paintings.

Elisa

Elisa on Soundcloud

Elisa’s voice is what fans may notice first, but it’s the singer, songwriter, and producer’s “ease with technological flourishes” and “complex production” that has NPR calling her an artist to watch. Having won apt comparisons to “Prince meets St. Vincent” (Okayplayer) and “late 80s Whitney meets early 90s Mariah” (NPR), Elisa’s sound is soulful, cinematic, and innovative.

Ziemba, Marilu Donovan, Elizabeth LoPiccolo & Mara Mayer

Ziemba official site | Ziemba on Facebook | Ziemba on Twitter | Ziemba on Instagram Ziemba on Bandcamp

Ziemba’s multisensory performances offer an alchemy that is both alien and familiar.

The Brooklyn-based composer, perfumer, geographer, and vocalist builds oozy architectures using fragrance, sound, costume, and the sincerest of theatrics. She recently founded Ardis Multiverse, a sonic fragrance imprint and artists alliance, and has spent the past year touring nationally and internationally in support of her debut album, “Hope is Never.” In the fall of 2017, Ziemba presented original sonic fragrance work at MoMA Ps1 and National Sawdust, and released music video “El Paso” which doubled as an underground history of the U.S./Mexico border, accompanied by an op-ed on Teen Vogue about women-led resistance on the border. She is currently immersed in “ARDIS,” her forthcoming album, a feminist sci-fi fragrant musical & wholly consuming parallel universe.

As Ziemba, René Kladzyk has shown work widely within NYC at venues including:

La Mama, MoMA Ps1, National Sawdust, Fourth Arts Block/ Creative Time, Superchief Gallery, CUE Art Foundation, Momenta Art, Queens Museum, Trans Pecos, and more. She has toured nationally and internationally at arts and music venues, and has held artist residencies with the French Institute in Fez, Morocco, and Guerilla Scienceʼs Fire Organ. She has written original scores for NYC dance companies, soundtracked Comedy Central’s Broad City, offered costume design and creative direction services to fellow artists in Brooklyn’s DIY scene, and currently leads an experimental vocal group named XHOIR with fellow artists Colin Self and Caitlin Baucom.
