Amy Winehouse was a young ground breaking singer/ songwriter from North London. Her 2008 album “Back To Black” earned her five Grammy Awards and she was the first British female to win three of “the big four awards” -Best New Artist, Record of The Year and Song of The Year. Winehouse was known for her deep expressive vocals with an eclectic mix of styles including rhythm and blues, jazz and neo-soul. Her major influences ranged from Sarah Vaughan to Ronnie Spector, but the edgy, unapologetic flare she brought to the table is what made her an instant legend adored by fans all over the world. On July 23, 2011 Amy Winehouse tragically lost her battle with addiction making her a member of the infamous “27 Club.” This is where her legacy remains; amongst the many other young musical icons who left this earth too soon.

In Damn The Light’s tribute to Amy Winehouse we explore her story through interviews, personal accounts, multi-media and her incomparable song catalogue. Complete with a top-notch band and her signature motown-esque horn section, Damn the Light once again delivers you an authentic sound and experience like no other.

The Ritualists

The Ritualists is NYC-based dark psychedelia. Fronted by lyricist and multi-instrumentalist, Christian Dryden, the group’s fusion of classic glam rock, post punk and modern Brit-pop has raised more than a few eyebrows, earning them comparisons to legends such as David Bowie, Echo and The Bunnymen and The Verve, and the praise of Sex Pistols founder, Glen Matlock.

The Ritualists’ live show combines aspects of traditional rawk theatricality and classical surrealism. They have awed audiences up and down the east coast, from The Highline Ballroom, NYC to The Masquerade in Atlanta. They were recently one of only 25 other artists chosen to participate in the All About Music festival in Nashville, TN. They have played alongside notable artists such as Lady GaGa, The Fiery Furnaces, Slinky Vagabond, and Spindrift. They have performed live for 107.7 WACC in Connecticut and 90.3FM WMSC Radio in Montclair, NJ. The Ritualists are also featured regularly on 107.1 FM, “The Peak” and 93.30 FM in Argentina.

Briana Layon and the Boys

“Tracks like ‘All Yours’ and ‘Rope’ make you feel like a high school sophomore who recently discovered that things happen after curfew.” – Greg Mania, CREEMmag.com

“Hard rock band Briana Layon & The Boys released an ass-kicking album titled Touch and Go that, at times, makes us want to headbang and throw furniture” – Arena.com

Briana Layon & The Boys is a ferocious, heavy rock band out of Brooklyn, NY. Marrying blood pumping music with soul grabbing lyrics, their live show is a dramatic and raging performance fusing sultry blues, metal and rock n’ roll into a melodic and soulful story in high overdrive. Frontwoman Briana is a multifaceted performer with a voice that ranges from a smooth, sultry blues belt to a murderous raging wail. Her versatile voice has appeared in international commercials, CBS radio, and has been featured in live performances with members of Blondie and cast members of broadway’s “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” Backed by her heavy hitting band: Chris DiBerardino (guitar), Ben Murphy (Bass), and Caleb Brown (drums), Bri and her boys create a menacing and high intensity punctuated by hooky melodies and explosive riffs.

Their debut album, Touch and Go was released August of 2014 and was selected as Best New York Indie Rock Album of 2014 by Arena.com and their track “Cut My Man” awarded Best Song of 2014 by New York Music Daily.
