TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF BOHEMIA SUBURBANA

AFTER THE LATIN GRAMMY AWARDS NOMINATION FOR BEST ROCK ALBUM IN 2010, BOHEMIA SUBURBANA PRESENTS IMAGINARIA SONORA, AN ALBUM WITH THE MATURITY AND FRESHNESS NEEDED TO PLEASE THE LOYAL AUDIENCE THAT ACCOMPANIES THE BAND SINCE ITS INCEPTION, AND ALSO TO ENTICE NEW GENERATIONS WHO WANT TO BE PART OF THE “SUBURBAN MYTH”.

In March 1992, a group of young musicians who gathered to play in a garage in Guatemala City founded the band Bohemia Suburbana. A year later, they had enough songs to release their first material in cassette format; the album was called Sombras en el Jardín and included the first versions of En el JardínYo te vi and Peces e Iguanas. Because of the band’s emerging success, the study Primera Generación released the album Sombras en el Jardín on compact disc with Dios es Ajeno and Del-fin as bonus tracks. In 1996, sponsored by Radio Vox label, Bohemia Suburbana traveled to Miami to produce Mil palabras con sus dientes. The album led them to play in other cities in the United States, Central America and Puerto Rico. Peces e Iguanas became an anthem of the Guatemalan rock: it was played day and night on the radio. Other songs such as Aire, Planeta Hola o Yo te vi expressed the cry of people and were set in the imaginary as generational sound tracks.

In 2000, Radio Vox released Remixes & La Emergencia de las Circunstanciaswith electronic versions of some the band’s songs. In 2001, produced by them and with the support of Piramide Sound/Premier Producciones released Sub. In March of 2002, to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the band, they made a documented tour that was later compiled in Aquí Diez Años (first edition, 2003) and Bohemia en Vivo (second edition, 2005) of Strip Records and DLN distribution.

In 2007, the bohemians met in Miami to compose new songs that were finally released in 2009, in the album called Bohemia Suburbana. Warner Music was responsible for the distribution and Bohemia was nominated for the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards in the category of Best Rock Album.  In 2012, to celebrate its 20 years of career, Bohemia Suburbana convened all former members to make three consecutive concerts. They met at Lake Atitlán, rehearsed and mounted an unprecedented show with 25 thousand people in the tour/celebration called BS20.

During these years, Bohemia Suburbana has performed with Jaguares, Rata Blanca, Café Tacuba, Divididos, Fobia, El Tri, Juanes, Los Auténticos Decadentes, Aterciopelados, Joaquín Sabina, Heróes del Silencio, Maná and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, among others.

In 2014, Bohemia Suburbana formed by Giovanni Pinzón (vocals), José Pedro Mollinedo (drums), Álvaro Rodríguez (keyboard), Juancarlos Barrios (guitar) and Josué García (bass) got together to record their fifth album. They got the attention of the renowned producer Phil Vinall, who traveled to Guatemala to record some songs and then, the band went for a few weeks to Sonic Ranch studios in Texas for the final arrangements of Imaginaria Sonora.

In 2015  they release the singles and videos: ” Tengo Que Llegar ” and “Mal Sabor” , which allowed them to enter major television and radio rotation including MTV. They also received the awards for “Best Song ” “Best Video” , “Best concert” and “Best concert” in the 2015 Awards of Circo del Rock in Guatemala . Now they are about to launch their new single and video ” Pero Nadie ” as a prelude to the 25th anniversary celebration of the band in 2017 .
