Manhattan Camerata: Transclassical Project Manhattan Camerata: Transclassical Project

Manhattan Camerata official site | Manhattan Camerata on Facebook

Since its inception in 2009, Manhattan Camerata has become one of the world’s most versatile, flexible, and stylistically diverse ensembles, equally adept at Tango and Fado, medieval music, rock arrangements, as well as film scores and original contemporary compositions. Performances unconventionally meld the western classical chamber orchestra with world instruments (Portuguese guitar, bandoneón, sitar, darbuka, to name a few) – often presented in new works.

This performance will include Transclassical™ arrangements of: “Within You Without you,” “Tomorrow Never Knows,” and “Here Comes the Sun,” by The Beatles, “True Love Waits” by Radiohead, “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, as well as Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” and original compositions by Manhattan Camerata founders, Lucia Caruso and Pedro da Silva.

Transclassical Music™ is a term coined by Manhattan Camerata co-founder Lucia Caruso that describes a style based on classical music techniques and instruments that also incorporates improvisation, elements from other cultures, and world instruments in a variety of styles and genres.
