Pearl and the Beard
Pearl and the Beard is Brooklyn trio Jocelyn Mackenzie (vocals/percussion), Emily Hope Price (vocals/cello/keys), and Jeremy Lloyd-Styles (vocals/guitars). Formed in 2007, the three intertwine their distinct voices amidst a delicate orchestra of cello, guitars, keyboard, bells, and percussion, offering songs that speak to joy and sorrow, love and loss.
The breadth of their songwriting and genre-defying sound is reflected in the variety of other artists with whom they’ve shared the stage, most notably Ani DiFranco, Neko Case, Iron & Wine, Ingrid Michaelson, Bastille, Dar Williams, Lucius, Lady Lamb, The Drums, Matt + Kim, Sharon Van Etten, Laura Marling, Brandi Carlile, and DeVotchKa.
The trio has released three full-length albums as well as two EPs. Their music has been featured in the films Hello, My Name Is Doris, Spoiler Alert, and Unicorn City, as well as the television series Lucifer, The Royals, and the Hannah Gadsby Special: Douglas.
They played their farewell show to a sold-out crowd at Bowery Ballroom in November of 2015. They are reuniting for the first time in 11 years for this one-time-only event.
