En Orbita NYC

En Orbita official site | En Orbita on Facebook | En Orbita on Twitter | En Orbita on Instagram

En Orbita has had two wildly successful versions so far, both in its hometown Santiago, Chile. It’s managed to bring in amazing international acts like Cigarettes After Sex, Los Mirlos, The Sonics, Damo Suzuki, Lee Ranaldo, Parquet Courts, Holy Wave, Juana Molina, as well as showcase local Chilean gems like Miss Garrison and Protistas (among many others).

It’s had insightful talks from multi-disciplinary speakers ranging from Ian Svenonius (of the band The Make-Up) to Sean Bohrman, head of Burger Records to Sergio Diaz, cofounder of Os Mutantes to Public Image ltd. (among other bands), drummer and current speaker, academic and writer Martin Atkins.

En Orbita approaches the ever-changing music industry and its place in our universe with brutal honesty and celestial optimism- looking to confront the challenges it faces while simultaneously daydreaming up solutions and reminding us why we’re all here in the first place- the music. As founder Carmen Barahona says, “it’s the first step for a dialogue we want to open in the world.”
