Making instrumental music into a political statement is an inherently difficult task—one that the guys in Kneebody take on with their music. Most recently, they debuted the new track “For the Fallen” in an interview with Vice, talking about how instrumental music can mean so many different things to different people—especially jazz. “For the Fallen” was written as a tribute to victims of war, a message that comes across tonally rather than through lyric. Take a listen and read the Vice interview here.
The band has also premiered a studio performance of “Uprising,” another new track from this year, on WBGO’s Take Five. Check it out below, and grab a ticket for Kneebody’s upcoming performance at LPR on April 8th!
