Ben Watt, who plays LPR on Tuesday, December 9, recently released “Pearson Park,” the fourth installment in his Deep Folk Mixtape series. Give it a spin below. Here’s some setup from Wondering Sound, who premiered the mix last Wednesday:
“Ben Watt is perhaps still best known for his work as half of Everything But the Girl, but his roots (as that band’s earliest work indicate) are in folk music — specifically, the mystic strain of British folk popular in the late ’60s. In that sense, his ongoing “Deep Folk” mixtape series has been a return to his roots. Watt — whose latest solo record, Hendra was released earlier this year — blends together a string of beautiful, absorbing tracks, all of them with a mood of mystery and melancholy.”
