The Path Fund Inc. ® and Dolly Fox are proud to announce that ROCKERS ON BROADWAY® will honor Broadway’s own two-time TONY Award winner for Fun Home and Assassins, Michael Cerveris, and legendary Rock & Roll drummer from Bad Company and Free, Simon Kirke.

ROCKERS ON BROADWAY is the original Broadway rock concert series (created in 1993); a fun, unique charity event featuring music and Broadway’s best rockin’ out.  Proceeds to benefit The PATH Fund, Inc.®, Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS and arts education programs with Broadway Bound Kids.

This year’s high energy rock concert will celebrate the past 25 years of ROCKERS ON BROADWAY® events. The show will feature performances by Rockers alumni (including Tony Award nominees and winners and Broadway’s current stars and ensemble members), and a special tribute for the 25th Anniversary of hit Broadway musical The Who’s TOMMY with members of the original cast. Performers and special guest to be announced soon.

The PATH Fund, Inc.® is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting arts education. We support pre-professional training organizations with scholarship and program funding. Additionally, we support NYC’s thriving arts community by working with aspiring writers to develop new works of music and theater. Since the inception of Rockers in 1993 and PATH in 2007, they have raised over a half million dollars for performing arts charities.

In 1993, The Who’s TOMMY was preparing to open on  Broadway.  One day during rehearsals Pete (Townshend)  approached me about doing a couple of live concerts  around the city.  He wanted the cast to learn what real Rock & Roll felt like, and for a bonus they could perform with him.  He wanted us to have this experience for ourselves, because it would help translate that edgy rock sensibility into our performances. At Pete’s request I gathered the TOMMY  orchestra and formed a band. Once the band was set, I held a company meeting with my fellow cast members and asked them to join in the fun.

The first ROCKERS ON BROADWAY® was held in the Spring of 1993 at the China Club on 75th Street.  In addition to the TOMMY cast and Pete (of course), special guests included Joe Walsh, Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes) and Eddie Vedder. For me, the experience of singing ‘Pinball Wizard’ next to Pete that night changed me forever. It was extraordinary. Really, who  doesn’t want to feel like a Rock Star…at least once?   Every year I hope to share that same feeling with the  wonderful performers who donate their time and talent, while continuing to make a difference to our beneficiaries.
