Downtown Folk Band releases their debut LP, DOWNTOWN FOLK.
Downtown Folk Band
Guitarist Grant Gordy is one of the most highly regarded young instrumentalists of his generation, “the least boring guitarist I know” (Darol Anger). Mandolinist Jacob Jolliff kills it on the road nightly with Yonder Mountain Band, but he also fronts his own band of superstars who are never Stingy with the Brisket.
Brooklyn-based Bennett Sullivan was the star banjo player for Steve Martin’s Broadway musical “Bright Star” in 2016. His music and banjo apps are heard and used all over the world. Bassist Mark Lau and fiddler Harrison Hollingsworth direct music at Redeemer Downtown by day and jam out from Lincoln Center to Birdland by night.
Brooklyn-based songwriter and singer Melanie Penn has a voice that sounds like champagne. Jon Seale, known to his intimates as “Big Deal Seale,” is cofounder and producer at Mason Jar Music. Rachel Zevita is a pop vocalist with classical chops that landed a spot as a finalist on American Idol and tours the world. Their original songs plumb the depths of the human condition and also make us laugh. Olivia Vollmer is lead vocalist for the Downtown Folk Band and a model of the foot variety. Rozz Morehead is a gospel singer who does everything else too, include sing with Diana Ross.
