A versatile musician, David Broome has experimented and performed in nearly every genre from classical to rap, jazz, gospel, musical theater, big-band, and heavy metal among others. The NY Times has described him as a “deft and focused” performer, and his recitals of solo and chamber repertoire, as well as his own improvisations, have been heard in America and across Europe. A devoted performer of new music, David has premiered the compositions of his fellow peers as well as his own works. He has also worked with many renowned composers such as Meredith Monk, Martin Bresnick, David Lang, and Michael Gordon.

In the fall of 2005, David presented a multimedia program involving John Cage’s Sonatas and Interludes for Prepared Piano, poetic and philosophical readings, and video art by filmmaker Justin Blome. Earlier in that year, he performed Anton Webern’s Variations, Op. 27 in an All-Webern Program receiving rave reviews in the New York Times. He also organized an All-Student Composer’s Concert, premiering new works by upcoming composers. David has also composed music for and performed for various films by independent filmmakers. Other unique programs include a performance with robots, a one hundred pianist ensemble under the direction of Leonard Slatkin, and numerous collaborations with a variety of dance troupes.
