Workman Song

Hailed as the “unrelenting local force” [Baeblemusic] behind “a sound that
transcends anything currently in the New York scene” [Deli Magazine], singer-
songwriter Sean McMahon has built his reputation upon songs that “gush with a
level of honesty that few of us are bold enough to share with anyone.” [expants]

McMahon is flanked in studio and onstage by brother and renowned organist
Griffin McMahon (keyboards), Daniel Tortoledo (bass), and Ted MacInnes
(drums).

An impromptu 2015 road trip across the USA inspired a torrent of new songs that
are, according to the Brothers McMahon, inspired by The Smiths, Bruce
Springsteen, Velvet Underground, and Jefferson Airplane. Their latest single “O,
To Be In Love Again” (produced by Will Berman of MGMT, Kuroma) anticipates
a high energy foray into sonic worlds dominated by psych four-part harmonies,
90’s rock textures, and brotherly hi-jinks woven around tales told by McMahon, a
“storyteller capable of telling better stories than your granddaddy.” [No Smoking

The Adventures of The Silver Spaceman

“The Adventures of The Silver Spaceman – the primary project of Zachary James Ellis (formerly of Haybaby) – deal in the kind of first-wave indie rock that came to define a very particular era. The first single off of the loquaciously named Bare Bones Part I: Oxygen Is Flowing Although the Bag May Not Inflate, “Grave Digger” is a romp through the finer moments of that era, favoring clean vocals paired with bright production that allow for every corner of a track to be heard. “Grave Digger” finds Ellis at a relaxed moment, hitting a point somewhere between Iji-esque yacht rock and Pavement-like expansion of ideas; the most remarkable moments are those when Ellis’ vocals come in, pushed high above the instrumentation, his clearly being the literal and figurative voice to focus on.” [Porcello, Post Trash]

Ben Seretan

As a rule, electric guitar. Beard. Minimalism. Guitar pedals. Open tuning, finger style. “Ecstatic Joy” tattooed on chest. Goes swimming in most bodies of water in most weather, generally in underwear. California. New York City. Talks too much in-between songs. Sometimes really loud, sometimes really quiet, sometimes solo, sometimes with a band.

If heaven exists, Ben Seretan wants to find it with delay pedals and join the chorus of angels. Long, swirling clouds of tones met with cascading waterfall plucks of electric guitar joined together by a honeyed singing voice and a deep appreciation of tenderness. At times fearfully, ecstatically joyful, at other times whispering drowsily into the coffee cup of your ear.

Grew up in Southern California, studied music at Wesleyan University (graduated with honors, Alvin Lucier, Anthony Braxton, MGMT, et al), Flux Factory artist-in-residence 2014, Sitka Fellows Program recipient 2013, Wassaic Project artist-in-residence 2012, organizer and performer of sunrise concert series, has performed in horse barns, bedrooms, churches, movie theaters, power plants, rooftops, and once on top of the wheelhouse of a tall ship.
