Que Bajo 5th Anniversary Party

Founded in 2008 by Uproot Andy and Geko Jones, the NYC tropical dance party Que Bajo has been influential in changing the sound NYC nightlife. The residents’ now widely known remixes and productions mix the folkloric music of Latin America with modern electronica. Initially intended as an outlet for this new sound (often known as Tropical Bass), Que Bajo has increasingly become a showcase for an ever evolving array of new musical trends emanating from around the globe. Nominated for ‘Best Party’ in the 2010 Paper Magazine Nightlife Awards and named by Timeout NY as NYC’s Top Latin Underground Party, Que Bajo continues to host many of the young artists and DJs on the cutting edge of these new sounds. 2013 saw the launch of Que Bajo Records releasing a steady stream of remixes and club edits that give the now famous party its signature sound all at quebajo.com

DJ Blass

Vladimir Felix aka DJ Blass was born in December 1, 1978 in Puerto Rico. During his young years he was amazed and attracted by the art of music, he started pursuing a career in the field and his dream came true: he has become one of the most prestigious music producers in his genre. At his age of 32 he has worked and created some of the most successful titles, giving the urban and Latin genre a new flavor accepted and acclaimed by the masses, reaching incredible sales numbers throughout the world. Most of his musical inspiration comes from folk and African Music and also from the Electro and Rap era which he was introduced in his early years by his cousin in the Bronx, NY. Uproot Andy

UPROOT ANDY is a Brooklyn based DJ/Producer and co-founder of Que Bajo, the NYC based party that helped pioneer the so called Global Bass movement with its all embracing approach to global electronic music. Originally developing his culture crossing DJ sets at the Mehanata Bulgarian Bar before beginning the Que Bajo parties, Uproot Andy’s unique sound of bass heavy and melodic dance music, first began appearing outside the club on mixtapes such as Guacharaca Migration, called ‘one of the best mixtapes of 2008’ by New York Magazine, as well as on early releases by the Bersa Discos and ZZK record labels. Since then he has toured extensively in Europe and across the Americas appearing in diverse settings from Colombia’s Carnaval de Barranquilla to New York’s Central Park Summerstage. Recently Andy and Que Bajo co-founder Geko Jones represented their global bass sound at the Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash in NYC and they have also launched Que Bajo Records to release a steady stream of remixes and club edits that give the now famous party its signature sound.

Geko Jones (DJ)

Renowned by top DJ’s and producers of the digital cumbia scene in Latin America and European bass-pundits alike, Geko Jones is one of the select few DJ’s pushing forward the Latin agenda in a world wide tropical bass scene. A founding member of both the New York Tropical and Que Bajo?! party franchises in New York, and a partner and co-owner of the Dutty Artz record label with producer Matt Shadetek and DJ /Rupture, his mixes span the tropical hemispheres and collage together hours of globally sonic dance- floor mayhem. His DJ sets incorporate heavy afro-latin percussion mashed up against the hard synth lines and global breaks.
