Based in Brooklyn, NY HYPNOCRAFT is more than a promoter or presenter, nurturing an eclectic scope of artists and their projects, as well as helping them connect and grow in their musical and artistic communities. We also serve as a platform for creative collaboration, and act as producer and curator on interdisciplinary projects to create works bigger than a singular discipline, working in music, dance, film, video art.

The Skins

The Skins are an infectious Brooklyn-based band consisting of siblings Bayli, Reef, and Kaya Mckeithan, along with friends and dueling guitarists Daisy Spencer and Russell Chell. Although they range in ages from 16-21, The Skins play like old pros, offering an energetic interpretation of music that today’s audiences crave. The Skins are well-trained musicians who can shred on their instruments, yet they find a way to balance their technical prowess with their pop-driven hooks to seamlessly combine rock, pop and hip-hop. The Skins are creating something fresh and exciting for this generation.

Since forming in 2012, The Skins have played two sold out tours supporting the UK band The Heavy as well as a sold out tour with Jake Bugg and they blew audiences away at the Afro Punk festival two years in a row. Their songs have been licensed for tennis’s Australian Open on ESPN, an eight-week Cinemax ad campaign, and the soundtrack for the HBO film “Entourage.” The Skins just signed a major label record deal with American Recordings and are currently working on their next release with Rick Rubin.

EMEFE

EMEFE has been making people dance and scream uncontrollably since 2009. They released a self-titled album in May 2015. The album is about breaking through the undefinable noise and clutter of everyday life. EMEFE’s beats are a cross between Fela Kuti and Prince, with vocals reminiscent of the Talking Heads’ candor and the Beach Boys’ lushness… all with a unique pop sensibility.

The musicians in EMEFE have shared the stage or studio with The Roots, Chic, Arcade Fire, Tuneyards, My Morning Jacket, and more. As a band, EMEFE has collaborated with artists such as Gabriel Garzon-Montano, Antibalas, Hoodie Allen, Lafa Taylor, Baloji, Chico Mann, Superhuman Happiness, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Magic City Hippies, Grace Weber, and more. Taking the drum chair with afrobeat pioneers Antibalas and Arcade Fire’s Will Butler, bandleader Miles Arntzen also established himself as a go‐to New York City musician by the time he turned 23, playing with artists such as Mark Ronson, Allen Toussaint, Action Bronson, Angelique Kidjo, Tony Allen and more.

Strange Names is the New York-based new wave trio of Liam Benzvi, Francis Ximenez, and F. Pontus Aleckson. Their pop is a polished breed: a surging euphoria of funk guitar-work, synthesizers, and righteous vocal hooks that bring to mind INXS and The B-52’s. In 2015, they toured with Azealia Banks in support of their first full length album, Use Your Time Wisely. They have since spent time writing and self producing their anticipated sophomore effort, out in early 2018 on Frenchkiss Records (The Drums, Bloc Party).
