Who are we, and why do we sing?…
We are a diverse group of individuals from all over the tri-state area. Our membership is made up of students, teachers, lawyers, doctors, CEOs, secretaries, and others of all ages and backgrounds. What brings this group of people together is a mutual love for music, and a desire to share that passion with others. We are a non-auditioned chorus with an auditioned chorus sound!

Once praised by The New York Times as being “the most ambitious” amateur chorus in Westchester, the Hudson Valley Singers has been enriching the cultural life of Westchester and Manhattan since 1951. The chorus gave its debut concert on March 15th, 1951, at The Graham School in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. The group has been in existence continuously since that time, performing choral music from the 17th through 20th centuries. The group’s objectives have always been to contribute to the cultural life of the community through public performances and to provide eager choral singers with professional instruction.

Eugene Sirotkine took over as Music Director for the group in 1998. Under his direction the group has been able to extend itself and take on increasingly more demanding works. In the spring of 2008, the Singers gave a rare performance of Robert Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri at The New York Society for Ethical Culture. They have also performed internationally in places like Costa Rica, Hungary and the Netherlands. In March of 2011, the chorus traveled to Amsterdam to reprise Dvorak’s Stabat Mater at Concertgebouw, a world-renowned venue prized for its extraordinary acoustics and architectural beauty.
