Formed in Santos in 2001, Shadowside has been conquering rock and metal fans around the world ever since their first moment on stage, and is nowadays one of the biggest names in Brazilian heavy metal. The band is fronted by Dani Nolden, one of the most powerful and praised female voices of current heavy metal, chosen by popular vote for three years in a row as Best Metal Female Singer in Brazil at Whiplash.net (2011, 2012 and 2013).

Their discography includes the albums Theatre of Shadows (2007)Dare to Dream (2009), as well as Inner Monster Out (2011), an album that brought them international notoriety as they reached #9 on CMJ’s Loud Rock Charts, remaining in the top 15 most played bands in the USA radio stations for 6 weeks in a row, hit #26 in the best-selling album charts in Japan, according to BURRN! Magazine, and won the 11º Independent Music Awards in the Best Hardcore/Metal album by popular choice.

The album stood head and shoulders above the band’s previous albums and was released with two music videos with Inner Monster Out hits: the songs Angel With Horns and Habitchual.

Since 2010, Shadowside has been touring worldwide and have played in 30 countries so far, both as a headlining act and as a support for legendary bands such as Iron MaidenHelloween and W.A.S.P.

After the success they enjoyed with Inner Monster Out, Shadowside started working on their 4th studio album. It’s been a long five years of waiting for their loyal and increasingly larger fanbase, but the band finally returned to Fredman Studio in Sweden, where they had already recorded the previous album, for a marathon 20-day recording session with producers Fredrik Nordström (Arch Enemy, Evergrey, Hammerfall, Bring me the Horizon) and Henrik Udd (Architects, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, Dream Evil), turning out their strongest work to date.

The new album Shades of Humanity explores deep and controversial subjects such as depression, abortion, stories of overcoming difficulties, the Mariana dam disaster and mankind’s moral values, and branches out in musical ways nobody expected, although never leaving behind the heavy riffs and catchy melodies that have always been their trademark.

An additional energy boost for the new album came from Swedish bass player Magnus Rosén (ex-Hammerfall), who joined Shadowside in 2015. Magnus, who has been awarded gold records and a nomination for the Swedish Grammy, Not only did he bring decades’ worth of musical experience to the fold, Magnus wrote two songs with guitarist Andy La Rocque (King Diamond), that appear on the Shades of Humanity album, released on July 26 in Japan, through Spiritual BeastJuly 28 in North America and Europa, by EMP Label Group, label owned by Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson, and September 4 in Brazil, by Furia Music Records.

Shades of Humanity is already yielding its first results and is one the 15 best selling Rock and Metal records in Brazil in 2017, among bands like Deep Purple, Sepultura, Grave Digger and Iced Earth, according to the distributor and CD store Die Hard Records. The album also received great reviews and the band has been featured in Brazilian and international magazines, such as BURRN! (Japan)Hell MagazineLoud and Proud and Headbangers Latinoamerica. Also, the band and album appear on several ‘best of the year’ lists worldwide, such as on the legendary website Bravewords (Canada).

2018 brings a confident Shadowside, eager to get back on stage, with a new album that will certainly please and surprise the fans. It was worth the wait!
