SILVIA PEREZ CRUZ AND RAUL FERNANDEZ MIRO – PRESENT – GRANADA
 
Born 1983 in Palafrugell (Girona, Spain). Silvia Perez Cruz is one of Spain’s great stars. After many collaborative projects (Joan Manuel Serrat, Toti Soler, Duquende, Israel Galván), Sílvia wrote and recorded her first solo album ’11 de Novembre’ for Universal in 2012 – for which she received a Gold Disc. She won a Goya –Spanish Cinema Awards- for the Best Original Song in 2013 in the film Blancanieves along with flamenco guitarist Chicuelo.
Silvia is an artist who takes you comfortably through fado, jazz and especially flamenco, all filtered by her ‘Mediterranean presence’ that comes through on her Universal album GRANADA, a duo with experimental rock musician Raul Fernandez Miro, described by the Telegraph (UK) as ” melding Spanish Flamenco, American Jazz and Portuguese Fado to produce a new European Sound”.
 
 
This album which the artists will present here at the LPR is already Gold album in Spain and available in Europe and will be available in the US in 2015 is made up of covers of a wide variety of styles and arrangements such as Edith Piaf’s, classy and timeless Hymne de l’amour, the classic lides of Robert Schumman, the earthy Flamenco of Enrique Morente, the Jazz Standards of Hoagy Carmichael, Chet Baker and the traditional Catalan songs of Lluís Llach, Maria del Mar Bonet and Albert Pla. One of the highlights of the album is the rendition to Leonard Cohen and Federico García Lorca on the duo’s personal approach to “Take This Waltz”.
 
Sílvia has performed recently at the London Jazz Festival, Primavera Sounds Festival in Barcelona, Arles Festival, Arles and the Teatre des Abesses in Paris and has a strong international profile.
 
She made her US debut at Joe’s Pub in spring 2014 and is now delighted to be back to the US for this special concert as her LPR debut!

Raül Fernandez Miró, born 1976, Barcelona. Raül is a pure musician who absorbs every sound he hears to enrich his musical talent as a composer, producer and player, who has already toured the States several times with Josh Rouse and has worked in Nashville with the producer Brad Jones. He is the most well-known and respected independent music producer in Spain and has produced records for Lee Ranaldo, Kiko Veneno, Christina Rosenvinge. He has also arranged Enrique Bunbury, Nacho Vegas and Amaral compositions, and been the musical director of La Mala Rodríguez as well as received awards from critics. Considered a cult artist by the indie audience, he’s just released his seventh album under the name Refree, the first one with Primavera Sound record label
