KUČKA is the avant-electronic project of producer/vocalist Laura Jane Lowther, who records and produces all of the music from found sounds and analog synths from her bedroom studio in Perth.

After being sampled by the New York Rapper A$AP Rocky, being named in the top five under-the-radar Australian bands by The Guardian, and securing a slot on stage at Laneway Festival, 2013 was a huge year for KUČKA. Laura’s vocal abilities have also been recognised internationally as after initially sampling her track “I” for A$AP Rocky’s hit single Long Live A$AP, Rocky asked Laura to sing backing vocals on both Long Live A$AP and also Fashion Killa. Both of these tracks appear on his debut album, which charted at No 1 on the Us Billboard Charts.

In April, Lowther and her live band (consisting of Jake Steele on Synths, Katie Campbell on live electronic beats and Rosie Taylor on percussion) toured to France to perform at the Quartz Electronic Music Awards (held annually in Paris), as well as headlining an event as part of Technopol’s celebration of Electronic Music.

2012 saw the release of KUČKA‘s self-titled EP on Wood & Wire with one of the tracks Polly(serialkillersundays) winning a WAM Song of the Year Award in the experimental category. KUČKA also colloaborated with accomplished filmmaker Julia Ngeow to create an unusually surreal – anime inspired filmclip for the track Rewind. Just released is another collaboration between KUČKA and Ngeow for the brand new track Phantasy, filmed with a $400 budget and with just four days of pre-production, the clip is a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of KUČKA and her collaborators.
